The speaker for the January 12, 2016 HMAC Monthly Luncheon was Major Jacob O. Gray of the United States Marine Corps. Major Gray is the Commanding Officer, Recruiting Station Houston, for the 8th Marine Corps. District, Marine Corps. Recruiting Command.
Biography
Jacob O. Gray completed Platoon Leaders Course at Officer Candidate School in August of 2004, upon which time he returned to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania earning his degree in Health and Physical Education and subsequently was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in July 2005.
In September 2005, he attended The Basic School and follow on assignment to Infantry Officer Course, receiving orders to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines in July 2006. While in V13, he deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer in Charlie Company.
After returning from his second deployment, he received orders to report to Education Command to serve as the Aide-de-Camp for the Commanding General in July 2009. In May 2010, he received orders to report to The Basic School to serve as a Warfighting Instructor.
While at The Basic School, he instructed the Patrolling Package, served as a Staff Platoon Commander for BOC 3-11 and BOC 2-12 Executive Officer. In July 2012, he attended Expeditionary Warfare School and upon graduation in May 2013 received orders to 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, The Wolfpack, in Twentynine Palms, California.
While in 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, he served as Company Commander, Operations Officer and Battalion Executive Officer. As a Company Commander, he deployed in support of the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan from May to November 2014. Major Gray was promoted to his present rank in October 2015.
