State Senator Eliot Shapleigh, District 29, Acting Chair of the Texas Senate’s Veteran Affairs and Military Installations Committee, and Brigadier General Michael Smith, Texas Air National Guard (Ret), the Staff Director of the Committee, were our special guests. An enlightening discussion was had concerning the next BRAC cycle and what we could do in assisting the State in ensuring the retention of our military bases and installations in Texas.
